Melissa Schafer (Owner)

- Has been providing personal training since 2008 at temple fitness

- Proud mother of 2, striving to live a healthy lifestyle to continue to be a positive role model for her children. 

Enjoys biking, kayaking, horseback riding and adventure racing

Bruce Foerster (Owner)

- Masters of Kinesiology at Frostburg State University 

- Bachelors of Exercise Science William Penn University

- Head strength coach for Medicine Hat Tigers

 

Bruce played 4 years of collegiate baseball and 5 years for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. During his schooling, Bruce gained valuable experience while interning at WPU and working as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at FSU with the football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse and swimming teams

 

After his playing career, he coached the Medicine Hat Knights and Monarchs over 6 seasons.

Shane Chynoweth (Owner)

- Certified in Agatsu kettlebell and Sports Nutrition

- FRC & Kinstretch Certified Instructor

- NCCP Certified Instructor

Shane founded Temple Fitness in 2008 after playing collegiate football for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. He also played Fastball for 15 years and has competed in amateur kickboxing. In 2011, he set a Guinness World Record for the greatest weight lifted in one hour by kettlebell snatch (12,338 kg in one hour) 

Melissa Schafer (Owner)

Melissa has been providing personal training since 2008 at temple fitness. She got started in the industry because of her passion to help people.  She is very versatile in her training techniques and is trained in Olympic lifting, Kettlebells, Strength Training, Agatsu mobility and movement, and Kickboxing.  She has an eye for movement faults and will focus on form and mobility within your workouts. Her goal is to have you walk out of the gym feeling better than you felt walking in.

 

She also loves teaching people about proper nutrition and how to balance your food and clean eating to best optimize your workouts. 

 

She is a proud mother of 2, striving to live a healthy lifestyle to continue to be a positive role model for her children. ​She enjoys using her fitness functionally while biking, kayaking, horseback riding and adventure racing.

Tyler Whitrow

- Certified Personal Trainer - Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP-CPT)

- Exercise Science Diploma - Lethbridge College

- Business Administration Diploma - Medicine Hat College

Tyler has been an athlete his whole life, playing many different sports including Basketball, Football, Tennis, etc. He played basketball at Medicine Hat College while enrolled in the Business Administration Program and then completed a diploma in Exercise Science at Lethbridge College.

Tyler is the proud father of two and continues to work every day to meet the needs of his clients and group class members.

Amy Schmaltz

- Level 1 CPPS Sport Certification - Diesel Strength

- Level 2 Kettlebell Sport Coach - United Kettlebell Academy

Amy has been at Temple Fitness for 6 years, first as a client in group classes and has grown into a coach herself. She has national level gymnastics experience, and in 2015 she began training in Girevoy Kettlebell Sport. Amy has earned 2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal at the Canadian Nationals for her sport and currently holds a Women's Two Arm Biathalon National record.

Amy is the mother of two very active young boys.

Samantha Henderson

- Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta

- Certified Personal Trainer & Corrective Exercise Specialist - ISSA

- Crossfit Level 1 Trainer

- NCCP Certified Coach

As a youth, Samantha competed in multiple sports provincially and at the collegiate level, including ringette,soccer, bandminton, and running. She was introduced to CrossFit in 2013, and began coaching in 2015. As a fitness coach and track & field coach, Samantha trains individuals to improve their fitness in both health and performance. She has a keen eye for movement faults, and emphasizes technique before intnesity to train the body to move efficiently and without injury.

Samantha trains to be stronger for everyday tasks, and for performance in a variety of recreational activities. Currently her favourite activites include running, weight training, mountain bikinig, swimming, and wall climbing, but she's always looking for a new challenge!
